Dr. Koray Erdoğan is the founder and medical director of ASMED Surgical Medical Center in Istanbul, Türkiye, where he has focused his clinical practice on hair restoration surgery for more than two decades.

He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and subsequently worked at Marmara University’s Department of Thoracic Surgery. He entered the field of hair restoration in 2000 and established ASMED in 2001. He began performing Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) in 2004 and later focused his surgical practice exclusively on FUE.

Dr. Erdoğan developed the Sequential Technique for manual FUE and introduced a systematic approach to donor-area assessment, extraction planning and homogenization. His work places particular emphasis on preserving the donor area throughout the patient’s lifetime rather than evaluating surgery solely by the number of grafts transplanted.

He introduced the Coverage Value concept as an objective method of relating hair-shaft diameter and hair density to visual coverage. His documented innovations include the K.E.E.P. graft-placement instrument and the KE-BOT robotic scalp-analysis platform. ASMED’s donor-area assessment technology also includes the KE-Hair Analyzer.

In 2016, Dr. Erdoğan co-founded the World FUE Institute, first serving as vice president and later as president. He continues to participate in international congresses, scientific meetings and educational workshops focusing on FUE, donor management, Long Hair FUE and technology-assisted surgical planning.

Clinical Approach

Dr. Erdoğan’s current approach combines medical assessment, mathematical planning and aesthetic design. Each surgical plan considers:

• The patient’s age and anticipated progression of hair loss
• Donor-area density and follicular-unit distribution
• Hair-shaft diameter and Coverage Value
• Total and long-term donor capacity
• Facial proportions and individualized hairline design
• Homogeneous extraction throughout the donor area
• Preservation of donor reserves for possible future procedures
• Natural direction, angle and distribution in the recipient area

ASMED performs manual FUE, including both shaved and Long Hair FUE procedures. Technology is used to support measurement and clinical decision-making; final candidacy and surgical planning remain physician-led decisions.
